Suzanne L. Bertin

Texas Policy Advisor

Suzanne L. Bertin is a policy professional with more than 25 years of experience in Texas electricity markets, including roles in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Immediately prior to becoming Texas Advisor to the AnnDyl Policy Group, Suzanne was a Managing Director at the national trade association Advanced Energy Economy, leading AEE’s Texas policy engagement under the Texas Advanced Energy Business Alliance (TAEBA) brand. Suzanne’s private sector experience has been with Texas electricity market participants such as Reliant Energy (now NRG) and EnerNOC, where she worked on a wide range of wholesale and retail legislative and regulatory issues. In these roles, Suzanne has developed policy expertise in advanced energy technologies such as energy efficiency, demand response, solar, wind, electric vehicles, and smart grid.

Suzanne worked at the Public Utility Commission of Texas in the late 1990s, when the ERCOT competitive retail electricity market was established by Texas Senate Bill 7. She co-led a team responsible for implementing the transition to competition, which encompassed more than 40 regulatory proceedings, many of which were highly complex and contentious. Suzanne also held electrical engineering positions at Austin Energy and at NASA’s Johnson Space Center prior to moving into public policy.

Suzanne holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.  Suzanne also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts (Managerial Studies), both from Rice University in Houston, Texas. A native Texan, Suzanne currently lives in Austin.
